About Our Facilitators

Although the goal of the Wine School of Delaware is to make wine simple and enjoyable, we ensure that our facilitators are a little more than just simple. Our facilitators are either currently working as experts in the food and beverage industry, are current students of wine, have achieved accreditation / certification through well respected and recognized wine and spirit schools or programs, or meet more than one of those criteria. Our facilitators are regular people who don't like to think of themselves as professors (because it sounds snooty) but wine lovers with a passion to spread the "vine." They are great communicators and have the unique ability to translate sometimes challenging topics into simple know-how. They are not wine snobs, just wine lovers!

Steven Pruitt

Steven Pruitt is the founder of the Wine School of Delaware and is currently its primary facilitator. He is certified by the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET), a London based international wine and spirit educational body, and has received accreditations at various levels through the International Sommelier Guild (ISG) and through the Court of Master Sommeliers. He is currently a diploma candidate in the WSET program and is working towards becoming a Master of Wine.

In addition to his love of wine - learning, tasting, and instructing - he has recently taken a strong interest in the craft of home-brewing. Regarded as an artist living before his time, his craft brews are recognized internationally by no one but are enjoyed by everyone!

Karl Kadar

Karl is the newest addition to the Wine School's group of wonderful facilitators. Karl, a chemical engineer by trade, now an IT guru by day, is a wine connoisseur, cigar aficionado and Scotch playboy by night. Karl's love of spirits can be traced back to his chemical engineering days where he studied molecular transfusions and polynomial diffusion in the whiskey distillation process....ahh who are we kidding, Karl just simply loved drinking Scotch.

Over the years, Karl has traveled the world and has experienced just about every spirit known to man. His vast collection of fine wines, cigars and spirits rival that of the finest restaurants and include rare gems sampled by few. A great story teller, teacher, and facilitator, Karl leaves everyone feeling as though they have been taken on a private tour of Scotland themselves.
