The Wine School of Delaware strives to make wine simple and enjoyable through our carefully crafted classes. We want your experience with us to be comfortable and rewarding and we hope the classes described below always meet that goal. See you in class!
Introduction to Wine 101
The Wine School of Delaware’s Introduction to Wine Class incorporates a great wine tasting and a fun educational experience all in one. We like to say that we take you from grape to glass and allow you to experience what you learn. Our classes take a taste–learn–taste approach so that you’ll learn wine without even realizing it. Our classes have been tailored to deliver what our students have said they want most…to make wine simple! We’ll taste wines and cover the following introductory topics so that you’ll be more comfortable discussing, tasting, and purchasing wine.
Wine 102: New and Old World Basics
Build on Wine 101 and begin to explore the major new world and old world regions, their wines and their favorite pairing partners! Now that you have become a Wine STAAR, it’s time to explore (and taste) some of those new and old regions a little bit deeper. In this class, we’ll learn about France and it’s importance to the world of wine. We’ll taste a little bit of that Auzzie stuff they call Shiraz or is it Syrah? We’re sure you know the answer to that now! In the same simple approach that Wine 101 takes, we’ll compare Old World wines to some of those fruit forward wines of the New World. As always our class wines are paired wonderfully with a full four course dinner. Also in this class, we’ll finally wet your lips with some dessert wine and one of Steve’s favorite pairings!
Wine 103: Exploring the New World
In 103 we take a trip around the globe visiting the New Worlds such as South Africa and Argentina. We'll also try our second dessert wine and see if we can't satisfy your sweet tooth. As with all of our educational dinners, we take a taste, learn, taste approach and keep it simple. Hopefully you have ventured out and have begun to exprience some of the types and styles of wines we learned about in 101 & 102 - we look forward to hearing some fun wine stories. See you in class! Cheers!
Introduction to Scotch 101
Introduction to Scotch 101 is the latest addition to the Wine School of Delaware's simple and fun approach to wine and spirit tasting and education. In this course, we'll explore Scotland's four major regions, learn about the distillation process and begin to appreciate (and taste!) the regional differences. As with all of our wine dinners, Intro to Scotch 101 includes a full four course dinner paired wonderfully with the restaurant's signature dishes.
Scotch 102
So you have toured the major regions of Scotland and tasted a wee bit of each, now it's time to take the next step. In Scotch 102 we will venture out to the Islands, the Speyside will have a touch of rum (yes, rum), and our Islay, a bit more smoke (and as Karl says - a little rubber hose)! The only thing that will remain the same is that we'll have just as much fun as 101 and the food pairings will be just as tasty!
